House Health Care Plan Takes from the Rich, Gives to the Middle Class
Sunday, October 11, 2009
If the health care reform plan currently in the House of Representatives becomes law, it will shift income from the top of society down to the middle class. An analysis performed by the Tax Foundation concluded that by 2016, when the plan will be fully in effect, families in the top 5% of income would lose nearly $20,000 a year in new taxes. “The primary beneficiaries of this additional income redistribution would be middle-income families between the 40th and 60th percentiles,” writes the foundation. The winners would be families making between $75,000-$100,000 a year.
