Abdujabbor Shirinov has served as Tajikistan’s Ambassador to the United States since February 1, 2007. He graduated from Tajik State National University in 1974, with a specialty in mathematics. He returned to Tajik State National University to obtain a degree in economics, graduating in 1999.
From 1974 until 1992, Shirinov worked as a computer software programmer, eventually becoming head of the department for designing automatic control systems in the data-processing center of Tajik State University.
From 1992 to 1998, Shirinov went from chief engineer to the director of the Settlement Department of the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan, and from 1998 to 2000, he worked as the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of the Joint-Stock Commerce Agro-Industrial Investment Bank.
From 2000 to 2006, Shirinov was the First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan. In 2006, he chaired the Committee for State Financial Control of the Republic of Tajikistan.
From the end of 2006 until January 31, 2007, Shirinov was First Deputy Director of the Agency for State Finance Control and the Struggle Against Corruption.
Shirinov speaks Persian, Russian and English. He and his wife have five children.
