Reaffirming earlier accounts of FBI opposition to torturing terrorism suspects, documents declassified on Friday revealed special agents investigated CIA actions against detainees and that Justice Department officials even considered prosecuting intelligence operatives. The documents include handwritten accounts by FBI agents who visited a secret CIA jail in September 2002 where prisoners were “manacled to the ceiling and subjected to blaring music around the clock.” Another document reportedly shows the Justice Department considered for a time prosecuting a CIA interrogator for threatening a detainee with a gun and a power drill.
