Ambassador from Bosnia and Herzegovina: Who is Mitar Kujundžić?

Mitar Kujundžić has served as ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United States since February 2009.
 
Born on May 15, 1967, in Sarajevo, Kujundžić studied mechanical engineering in college.
 
His additional schooling consisted of diplomatic coursework in Bijeljina and Sarajevo, Oslo, Norway, and Vienna, Austria.
 
Prior to becoming a diplomat, Kujundžić was a high school teacher and a technologist at the factory FAMOS, both in Pale. He also served as an assistant for the faculty of mechanical engineering in East Sarajevo.
 
His diplomatic posts have included being the first secretary of the Department for European Integration and Organization in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the minister-counselor and head of the ministry’s department for North and South America, Australia, Japan and Oceania; and a diplomatic instructor.
 
Prior to his assignment in Washington, DC, Kujundžić was Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ambassador to Germany (2005-2008).
 
Kujundžić is married and has one daughter. He speaks English and German.
