Bush Rushes to Sign Nuclear Deal with Iran’s Leading Trade Partner

The Bush administration is rushing to sign a nuclear cooperation deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) despite the fact that the UAE has been used as a transshipment point for military technology headed to Iran. The nuclear trafficking program run by Pakistan’s Abdul Qadeer Khan used Dubai in the UAE as a major base. In 2006 the Bush administration was forced to abandon a plan to sell the operation of U.S. ports to DP World, a company owned by the royal family of Dubai.
