Federal Agency Board Worth $34 Billion Hasn’t Met in Almost Two Years

The Railroad Retirement Board is a rich but obscure agency that distributes $10 billion a year in retirement benefits to more than 600,000 beneficiaries and $74 million annually in unemployment benefits to 29,000 claimants. According to an investigation carried out by The New York Times, the three-member board, which has not met in almost two years, approves almost 98% of disability applications
