Reps. Neugebauer and Himes Invest Big in Goldman Sachs
Friday, April 23, 2010

When it comes to investing in Goldman Sachs, two members of Congress stand far above the rest: Representatives Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) and Jim Himes (D-Connecticut). These are the only two lawmakers, according to OpenSecrets.org, whose Goldman investments reached six figures—between $350,000 and $700,000 for Neugebauer and $250,000-$500,000 for Himes.
The next closest congressional investor has less than $91,000, and most lawmakers with Goldman as part of their portfolio report having less than $20,000.
Both Neugebauer and Himes sit on the House Financial Services Committee, which oversees legislation affecting Wall Street and the banking industry.
Goldman has invested in Himes, a first-term congressman who has received $15,150 from the bank, the most that any contributor has given to him during the 2009-2010 election cycle.
