Peter Guo
A blogger in China helping to expose the cover up of a local woman’s rape was arrested this week in mid-sentence while posting to Twitter. “I have been arrested by Mawei police, SOS,” wrote amoiist, who also goes by the names Peter Guo and Guo Bofeng. “Pls help me, I grasp the phone during police sleep.” None of amoiist’s followers have heard from him since the posting Thursday morning. He is believed to be the seventh blogger arrested for trying to expose the gang rape and murder of Yan Xiaoling. Amoiist posted an interview with Yan’s mother, who accused local authorities of protecting a man from Fujian province who was involved in her daughter’s attack. Police have said amoiist was detained because of “state secrecy issues.”
