Park officials in Pennsylvania are toying with the idea of moving a monument dedicated to the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg because motorists keep crashing into it. The memorial, known as the 74th Pennsylvania Monument, is situated only 10 feet from a road that features a sharp curve that often takes drivers by surprise, resulting in several collisions over the past five years. If the monument is moved, it won’t go far because it represents the position of the 74th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, made up of German immigrants, during the famed battle that turned the tide of the Civil War in favor of the Union Army.

I think moving the monument is great idea. It will save time and money on repairs and there is plenty of room in that area to move it without losing any significant historical accuracy as to where the 74th was in the battle. Seems to me to be a logical and inoffensive solution to a problem.
