New Year’s Eve Revelers Forced to Spend 3 Nights at Pub
Tuesday, January 05, 2010

Brits who decided to spend New Year’s Eve at the Tan Hill Inn got more than they had hoped for, thanks to inclement weather. Heavy snow falls forced revelers to spend not one, not two but three nights at the pub once roads were closed due to drifts that reached seven to eight feet in some places. The Tan Hill Inn, located atop England’s highest elevation (1,732 feet), provided food and plenty of ale to those stranded, and it was reported that “spirits were high.” Among the trapped guests were 30 members of Leeds University’s Cross Country Club. The revelers finally were able to get out and return home on Sunday.
