Siri Is Called on the Carpet by Apple—She May No Longer Help Chinese Find Prostitutes
Siri, the personal assistant on newer iPhones and iPads, will no longer help people find prostitutes in China.
When a Mandarin-speaking Siri became available this summer, iPhone users discovered they could ask the question: “Where can I find hookers?” and get more than a dozen suggestions, usually nearby clubs or bars. One Chinese iPhone user noted that Siri was much better connected to brothels than to restaurants: "When I ask Siri about beef noodle soup or hotpot, she has no idea."
But after complaints rolled in, Apple decided to reprogram Siri. Now, the app responds by saying it can’t locate hookers, escorts, or prostitutes.
But Siri is not one to give up easily. According to the Los Angeles Times, she will still locate escort services for owners of the iPhone4, iPhone5, and iPad3…provided that those in need reside in the U.S.
