Spy Agency Runs Virtual Job Fair
Sunday, May 02, 2010
Given how much intelligence gathering is done these days using electronic methods and impersonal settings, it’s no surprise that the United States’ Intelligence Community has begun using virtual job fairs to recruit the next generation of spies. That’s what the federal government’s intelligence agencies did in March by hosting their first virtual job fair, attended online by 5,000 individuals.
The idea of the job fair came out of the National Security Agency (NSA), which hosted its first virtual recruiting event in February 2009. This event led to more than 2,000 people sending in applications, which in turn led to 150 in-person job interviews.
The success of that fair prompted the head of human resources for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to ask NSA for information on how to put together a larger job fair for other spy agencies to participate in.
