Government Printing Office Employees Lead Agencies in Discrimination Complaints
Tuesday, August 10, 2010
The Government Printing Office (GPO) may not be very large, but it has its share of unhappy employees. One of the smaller agencies in the U.S. government, the GPO, with about 2,300 workers, recorded the highest rate of discrimination complaints (2.6%) in the latest report published by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Of the 84 complaints filed at GPO in FY 2009, 51 were allegations of race discriminations by African-Americans.
Interestingly, the second highest rate for agencies with more than 1,000 employees was recorded by, ahem, the report’s author, the EEOC, which had a complaint rate of 1.19%. The National Mediation Board had a complaint rate of 4.0%, but it only has 50 employees.
