Obama Administration in Massive Crackdown on Criminal Illegal Immigrants

The Obama administration is continuing its pursuit of illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds, arresting nearly 3,000 individuals recently as part of a nationwide hunt involving federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
Led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the government conducted a seven-day national “Cross Check” enforcement operation that arrested 2,901 “convicted criminal aliens” From 115 nations.
ICE said the sweep was the largest of its kind to date, and that arrests were made in all 50 states, as well as four U.S. territories. A similar operation in May led to 2,442 arrests.
All of the individuals taken into custody this time had prior criminal convictions, according to ICE, with 1,282 aliens convicted multiple times. More than 1,600 had felonies on their records, including manslaughter, attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, child abuse, sexual crimes against minors and aggravated assault.
