To commemorate its 10th anniversary in existence, the search engine Ask Jeeves, which is now known as Ask.com, has produced a top 10 of “unanswerables,” based on the frequency that visitors to the website have asked certain questions. After sorting through a billion or so queries since 2000, Jeeves produced the following list:

 

1.     What is the meaning of life?

2.     Is there a God

3.     Do blondes have more fun?

4.     What is the best diet?

5.     Is there anybody out there?

6.     Who is the most famous person in the world?

7.     What is love?

8.     What is the secret to happiness?

9.     Did Tony Soprano die?

10. How long will I live?

 

Fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams found it strange that “What is the meaning of life” would be classified as an unanswerable question because they know that the answer to the ultimate question of life is “42.”
